In December, VIDYA lauched a new initiative:
VIDYA VIKAS!
The broadening of horizons through knowledge
VIDYA teaches children from the slum communities basic computer skills free of charge. Classes are held daily for children from various slums of Ahmedabad.

Happy Diwali & Happy New Year!
VIDYA sold all the Diyas produced. Performances and Workshops continue in the slums of Ahmedabad for November.
In October, VIDYA began performing in communities.
Also VIDYA began a Diwali Project, making and selling Diyas (Candles) to be sold for the Festive Season.
In September, VIDYA organized and facilitated a semiar and discussion on "Theater for Education" with teachers from numerous Public schools in Ahmedabad and Education Experts

at the International Seminar on Applied Drama for Community Development at Madurai Kamraj University, School of Performing Arts upon invitation
In July, VIDYA conducted a Women's Empowerment Result-Oriented Workshop in Jamnagar, Gujarat for 30 local women aged 18 to 90.
Through Theatre and Theatre-Techniques the women learned how to create dialogues, self-help groups, about self-sustainability, banking, saving concepts, and how to raise their voices.
Since May, VIDYA has been facilitating Practical Skills Training, Self-Sustainability Workshops across the slums of Ahmedabad. The goal is to provide women and girls of the slum communities with practical skills such as Candle-Making, Sewing, etc. to help the women earn an income to become financially independent in the safety of their communities.
